Barnhart Program Analysis

Throughout this semester, I have learned a lot. Being in the program, there is always something new each and everyday. Two negative thought that I have had over of this semester is not being able to properly learn how to use an instrument and not having enough time to do other things besides studying. Now, that we are learning about each individual instrument, I feel lost. I feel this way because every week I am being introduced to new instruments, while I am still learning how to use the one before the new one. What trigger this negative thought is learning about the Barnhart 5/6. I find it very difficult to understand. The Barnhart technique is different to what I am used to. Therefore, the use of instrumentation is one of the negative thoughts …show more content…
This contributes to my negative thought because I am an individual who thinks that if I am not able to achieve something perfectly well then I’ll have trouble achieving it. For example, since I had trouble understanding the concept of Barnhart, I believe that I won’t be able to understand it at all. Being that I am learning new techniques each week, I feel that I won’t be able to achieve the past techniques. I feel that things are moving on quickly without fully understanding a certain subject well. My new positive thought of this situation is to take everything slow and ask questions if I need to. People don’t just learn new things right away it takes time and practice to achieve perfection. For my second negative thought, I believe “personalizing” contributed to not having enough time for other activities. This contributes to my negative thought because it is my fault that I don’t make time for other things. I am the one that controls my mind and body and therefore, I blame myself for not finding new ways to distract my mind. My new positive thought of this situation is realizing that studying got me to where I am currently at in life and that it is okay to have other activities in mind. My new positive thought will help me get rid of my negative thoughts and help me

Solution Focused Approach The solution focused approach falls under the wide branch of humanism “Its roots are in Systems Theory which posits that individuals who are in frequent contact will unavoidably influence each other.” (Lyons, Ford, & Arthur-Kelly, 2011, p. 25) Unlike many of the other humanist theories the Solution Focused approach does not focus on the individual as a problem but rather as a solution; the belief being that the problem comes from the individual’s interactions.
