I have been placed in Barnet Children and Young People’s Service. The ethos behind children services is to ensure that all children and young people in Barnet achieve the best possible outcomes enabling them to become successful adults. Children services supports children aged between 0-19 and up to the age of 25 if the young person has a disability. Children and young people are supported by high quality services that work in partnership to identify early needs, are accessible for families, responsive and affordable for individual child and their family. The key areas Barnet Children and Young Peoples Services focus on are: 'safeguarding children through our multi-agency Barnet Children’s Safeguarding Board looking after children who are in care recruiting foster families and potential adoptive parents and placing children in their care making sure that children in need of social care receive the support that they need reducing Domestic Violence and working with perpetrators of Domestic Violence working with Young Offenders and young people who are at risk of getting involved with crime or gangs to reduce youth crime whole family approach to early intervention and prevention strengthening links with voluntary sector organisations, especially where this ensures that youth and play activities are available libraries' (Barnet,2016). …show more content…
The department that are within Barnet Children and Young People Services are: Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), Duty and assessment team, Intervention and Planning, Disability Children Team, Safeguarding Team, Leaving Care and Looked After Children
