Barking Spiders-Personal Narrative

I had a friend named James. James was the captain of the basketball team, and was very popular. We were best friends, we lived in the same apartment. They were terrible, nasty, rat infested apartments, but we always had each other’s backs. James was a very nice guy he tried to make everybody happier. Well one day at school (New York City’s Barking Spiders Middle) we were walking down the hall and we saw a kid named Simon. Simon was an average odd kid, he seemed gothic sort of. Knowing the kind hearted James he had invited odd ball Simon to sit with us at lunch.

When he sat down me and my other buddy had told Simon a hilarious joke that didn’t even amuse him. Suddenly, as if we had offended him he had paced off furiously. Although Simons

We had come to a complete stop staring at Simons Door! We listened closely hesitant to go inside. We heard some satanic gibberish. Then we saw a board game that claimed Ouija on the top. Suddenly, we had seen a dark figure shoot like lightning across the room, then Simon’s shirt ripped off of his tiny body. Next thing we knew we saw a huge scratch across the chest of Simon. He cried out “Help!” we scrambled over there and grabbed Simon. We had took him all the way to the local hospital down the street, after witnessing these awful events. What is really creepy is that when we went back to that old crooked apartment we had found the Ouija board nowhere. Overall, James mom and dad had adopted Simon after seeing his mom and dad were abusive alcoholics. Simon admits that he was in a dark place, thankfully we were there at the rescue. Now Simon is as popular as ever. Only thing I just still don’t know till this day is what was he doing with that Ouija board? He always said that he was playing around but, I think it was something darker. Here recently James was walking around the house and fount an Ouija board. James was furious, Simon said it wasn’t his, but James claims he now hears the same noises as we did that night. I personally think it is the same board as Simon had that night. I have never been to James house ever since. Simon and James get new scratches every

The “10,000 Hour” phenomenon does not make an outlier as Gladwell proposes, it is a result, not the cause. Each of the “outliers” spent time, practiced their skill because they loved what they were doing. Gladwell quotes (Outliers, pg. 52) Bill Gates as saying “It was my obsession”. All of the “outliers” found their talent, loved it and spent as much time as they could learning and perfecting it.…

After reading The Glass Castle and watching some interviews with Jeannette Walls, I realized that I agree with her philosophy that every person has a story to tell, and I never really thought about it before. Yes, I have a story, but I didn 't see it as a story someone would want to read. Even if no one wants to read it, I think that writing a story down would be therapeutic. Also after reading the book, I saw some similarities between Jeanette and myself. I didn’t live in rundown houses and I always had food and clothes, but I really connected with her relationships, I even envied them.…

Moving schools away from all of my friends should’ve been an appalling experience, surprisingly, it was a blessing in disguise. I went to Agnes Baptist Elementary from kindergarten to 5th grade and I had friends that I've known since I was 3. I loved it there and knew the school like the back of my hand. Everything was superior, like most good things, though there were times where they weren’t, I was harassed by a bully almost everyday, my grades were getting inadequate, and my mom didn’t want me to be a sad, disconsolate 7th grader at a new junior high. In the result, I moved and I went to Savage Middle School, a school that had 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.…

It was a cold winter night; the moon had emerged from its cave gleaming out. I had just got off the bumpiest and jolty ride that I had ever been on. I slowly walked to my dorm with a sluggish movement as my head was aching and stomach was swirling. I trotted on, when I got there I slowly opened the door so subtly you couldn’t hear a creak. I dived on my bed and fell in the deepest sleep that I dreamed of grasping the water while rather large dolphins plopped out of the sea to climbing the top of Mount Everest and claiming the top to myself.…

We finally took our first steps in and suddenly the doors slammed shut.…
