Baricitinib Research Paper

Decent Essays
Baricitinib is an inhibitor of JAK1 and JAK2 that helps with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. JAK enzymes such as JAK1, JAK2, JAK3 and TYK2 are known to treat multiple inflammatory diseases (Pubchem, n.d.). Baricitinib is an oral, once daily treatment that shows high inhibition against the Janus kinases enzymes. Janus kinases are enzymes involved in immune function and inflammation activities. When Baricitinib is administered, the compound binds to JAK1 and JAK2 which prevents the activation of the 2 enzymes and inhibits the JAK signal transducers (Drugs.com, 2017). Also, Baricitinib reduces the propagation of JAK1 and 2 cells. It shows moderate to low inhibition against JAK3 and TYK2, respectively.

Minoxidil, an antihypertensive vasodilator medication, which was developed in the 1950’s by a company called Upjohn originally used to treat ulcers. During their experiments with dogs, they figured out that it did not cure ulcers, but acted as a vasodilator. Due to this recent discovery, Upjohn was able to develop a compound called Minoxidil in 1963 as well as being able to synthesize over 200 variations of the compound. The molecular structure and compound of Minoxidil is C9H15N50, made entirely of nonmetals with the molecular weight being 209.2483 g/mol, the UIPAC name being 3 hydroxy, 2 imino, 6 piperidin, 1 ylpyrimidin, and 4 amine. The percentage composition of carbon being 51.65, hydrogen being 7.24, nitrogen being 33.47, and oxygen being 7.64.…

Most of patients are prescribed from the benzodiazepine (anxiolytic) category such as Xanax or Klonopin for tension relief, reduction of other somatic symptoms, and relaxation (butcher, 2008). Benzadiazepines were released in the early 1960s and are the most widely used class of anti-anxiety medications. They are widely used because they are beneficially and work fast to cure acute anxiety. Depending on the dosage being taken the help quell anxiety and at higher dosages they act as sleep-inducing agents and can be used to treat insomnia (Butcher, 2008). Unfortunately some of the side affects include psychological and physiological dependence.…

Furosemide is a medication known as a loop diuretic (Allen, 2013). A diuretic is a medication which increases the amount of urine that passes out from the kidneys and they are often referred to as water tablets. It works by eliminating water and salt from the body through urination. In the kidneys, salt and water are filtered out of the blood and into the tubules of the kidney to the Glomerulus (Waugh and Grant, 2014), making the filtered fluid into urine (Omudhome, 2014). The sodium, chloride and water that are filtered out of the blood is then reabsorbed back into the blood before being eliminated as urine (Omudhome, 2014).…

In Selected Patient Populations (886) Patients with renal failure or liver disease As expected from differences in routes of elimination, for patients with poor or no renal function, changes in terminal half-life of elimination were greatest for ofloxacin (increased from 8 to 37 h) and moderate for norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, and enoxacin (increases ranged from 4 to 5 h to 8 to 9 h) (Table 5), while no changes occurred for pefloxacin (506). Clearance by hemodialysis was 14% or less of simultaneous plasma clearance for norfloxacin (223), ciprofloxacin (708), ofloxacin (224), and enoxacin (546) and was 28% for pefloxacin (506). Peritoneal dialysis also contributed minimally to clearance of ciprofloxacin (230, 691) and ofloxacin (504).…

It is also important for chemists to understand how to perform certain techniques, such as extraction and distillation, to produce the new products, which are usually drugs and cures for illnesses. In this experiment, n-butyl bromide was produced. n-Butyl bromide is an alkyl halide, which are usually synthesized by an alcohol and an acid. In the case of n-butyl bromide, n-butyl alcohol was used along with sodium bromide and sulfuric acid.…

In this equation, x and y denotes the number of moles of RE and Mn atoms per formula unit of the structure, respectively. The RE and Mn represent the theoretical magnetic moment of trivalent free RE3+ ions and divalent Mn2+ ions respectively. The experimental values of total magnetic moments were found to be smaller than the calculated values (Table xyz). The crystal field effects can lead to lower value of magnetic moments for RE3+ ions in these compositions as compared to free RE3+ ions, which in turn could lower the total magnetic moment of these compositions. This discrepancy in the total magnetic moment values could also be due to the presence of secondary phases in these samples.…
