Barcelona is hands down one of the most attractive cities in the world. Located right next to the ocean in the northeastern part of Spain, Barcelona is one of the most sought after travel destinations today. Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain and is home to over 4 million people and is also the capital of Catalonia, one of spain self-governing regions. Barcelona has a tremendous amount of rich history that made it the great city it is today and I would love to travel to this great city to learn more about it. A round-trip flight from San Jose Airport to Barcelona Airport would cost anywhere from $800 to $1,300 depending on how soon and what time of year you would like to visit. Many airlines will take you to Barcelona including American Airlines, British Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta to name a few. Barcelona has a tremendous amount of activities to do, there are so many, that just walking outside twenty feet would bring you across some of Barcelona’s amazing restaurants and local art that are abundant throughout the city. Barcelona has so many places and sights to see that it would be impossible to list them all. Some of the many ways you could spend your time in Barcelona would be to travel the city by foot, as your make your way through the city you could stop of at some of Barcelona’s most spectacular buildings and parks such as Parc de la Ciutadella, Parc de Joan Miro, and Montjuic Castle. Barcelona also is home to many amazing concert halls and host glamourous events such as the Razzmatazz and Apolo. This opens Barcelona to numerous amounts of sea-life such as the Fin whale, Sperm whale, Striped dolphin, and 19 species of cetaceans which are very common of the coast of Barcelona. Barcelona also has a tremendous amount of small fish near the coast aswell, as a result, the very popular fish restaurants as mentioned before can attain their fish locally and make sure it is the freshest on the market and in their kitchens. (RedaÃo) Barcelona’s waters do not go without problems though, sea life habitats are being destroyed by human activities such as fisheries, ship traffic, water pollution, and anthropization. Local pollution, specifically those from domestic and industrial sources, oil transportation, refineries, and agricultural runoff, are starting to have a massive impact on the wildlife of Barcelona aswell by introducing several diseases to the sea life that is reaching havoc on the ecosystem. (RedaÃo) Many precautions are trying to be implemented to help their city’s sea-life aswell, in response to the problems with their sea, The Blue School was designed as a course focusing on the conservation and management of the marine and coastal ecosystems of the Mediterranean Sea and how to prevent problems such as these from becoming even
