Barcelona Attacks

I do not agree with Ms. Taub’s opinion that these attacks will cause so much widespread fear that societies will divide. The attack in Barcelona used a van to drive into a crowd of people. There have also been some other attacks over the past two years involving people using vehicles to do harm to others. The thing is vehicles are a part of everyone’s lives. We all use them to get from one place to the next every single day. Vehicles are such a common occurrence in our lives that we don’t give a second thought to them driving on the road and we shouldn't. We should not spend time worrying about whether or not the car on the road is going to crash into us. Ms. Taub stated that a driver can wield the ordinary car as a weapon. In this attack in Barcelona that’s what happened. It’s sad that terrorists are using common things like a vehicle as a weapon. Here's the thing though, almost everything can be turned into a weapon. A simple pencil can be used to stab someone to death. It’s awful that this is the way the world is, but there are bad people out there that want to do harm to others. …show more content…
My reasoning behind this comes from the fact that fear surrounds every single one of us each and everyday. I also think this because we have had far worse attacks by terrorists than the one in Barcelona and we've pulled together to become stronger. For example the attacks on September 11, 2001. That was an extremely devastating day, but look at the cities and our country now. The people came together and we are so much stronger now. Airport security is so much tighter so attacks like this have almost no chance of happening. All of the reasons that I have stated are why I do not agree with Ms. Taub’s
