In her article, “Shitty First Drafts” Ann Lamott says, “All good writers write [shitty first drafts]. This is how they end up with good second drafts and terrific third drafts” (1). This is an example of appeal to popularity which, according to the book “ Thank you for arguing, is a type of fallacy that “legitimize your choice by claiming that others have chosen it “ (149). In other words, Ann Lamott claims that because all good writers write bad first drafts and end up with amazing results, people who want, or need, to write should too write bad first drafts.
