Cigarettes are the world's most known and most preventable human carcinogen causing agent. Cigarettes should be illegal in public places in the United States to help optimize America's standard of health. Secondhand smoke is a serious health hazard, non-smokers being exposed to secondhand smoke regularly will ultimately result in the absorbance of harmful chemicals. Smoking patients who are ill may and are being turned down by doctors because of their inability to eliminate the elective problem. Banning cigarettes in public should be the ideal conception to businesses in order to ensure customers that healthy practices are being exercised. Smokers are feeling as if they are being treated unfairly because they are not able to smoke freely. Many would argue that the warnings on cigarette packages and anti- smoking commercials should be enough punishment to smokers (Kluger, Richard). Out of the adult population 20% percent smoke, that is about 48 million people (Kohler, Nicholas). There are many smokers out in the world and banning cigarettes in public places can prove to have its challenges (Kohler, Nicholas). Cigarette smokers are not going to budge on the situation to leave public facilities in order to smoke. Cigarettes have no health benefits, people who do not smoke and pass a smoker may become irritated or sick, smoking should be banned in public places in order to help the public. Many would agree that smoking is bad for the consumer and the observer. Secondhand smoke kills more than 443,000 people a year those who smoke and those who were exposed, banning smoking in public places would be ideal for the standard of life. Doctors are turning down patients who do not comply with their health treatment because of their continuation of smoking. Banning smoking around public areas should become a law so those who do not smoke will not be affected by the harmful carcinogens in cigarette products.
