Banning books is a highly debated controversy. One book that is often being discussed is “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”. Parents and teachers alike are concerned that the extreme themes will rub off on their children and provide their children with bad role models. Though “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” has bad language and racism, it is rich in vocabulary and other literary devices and should be taught in middle schools and high schools. Even though it has extreme themes, this particular book should not be banned or censored. The book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” is one of the most brought up books when discussions turn to banning books. Many people, teachers and adults alike, have multiple reasons to want this particular book banned.
