Band Hinds Concert Report

Concert On April 17, the band Hinds with opening act Twin Peaks perform live at the Crescent Ballroom in Downtown Phoenix. It was a Monday and I had class at 5:45pm till 7pm and homework due soon. Like every college student we tend to procrastinate and say "screw it, have fun",yet regret it later. That day I proudly skip class and my boyfriend and I take a lyft from my house to downtown Phoenix and meet up with our group of friends. To give a little information on the band, Hinds is a Spanish indie alternative band from Madrid. "All four band members are girls, Carlotta Cosials (vocals, guitar), Ana Perrote (vocals, guitar), Ade Martin (bass, backing vocals) and Amber Grimbergen (drums). As for Twin Peaks, their style is alternative …show more content…
Next, the band sets foot on stage and automatically playing one of there hits "Butterfly". Everyone is pumped and the fans start to merge close to the stage and some of the fans dance, bobbing there heads, and jump to the beat of the song. The song was a hype up-beat song sounding like rock and punk mix together. I was two feet away from Clay Frankel, one of the guitarist. Each band member had there own dance moves to the song with there instruments pumping the crowd up and enjoying the music. By this time I was three sangrias and the alcohol kicks in and I'm feeling cheerful, friendly, and confident because I didn't care how I looked like while dancing. The band balances hype and mellow songs during the sho. Stuart wrote a review on the bands album, saying "toning down their sound, Twin Peaks are better able to amplify the sweet/sour tension between honey-voiced vocalists Cadien Lake James and Jack Dolan, and their more acid-tongued compatriot, Clay Frankel." During Twin peaks performance one of my friends spotted the band members of Hinds next to us. I thought it was cool of the band members jamming with there own crowd. This shows how laid back this whole show was. Next song, was "Walk to the One You Love" and soon Hinds casually just walks up to the stage joining the band. Now both bands are on the stage and it was Hinds were dancing along to Twin Peaks song and it was cute because they were just being girls. Girls who are casually enjoying the show

Over this week I attended a mishmash of performances. They ranged from good to mixed to awful. Let's start with the good: a fun, entertaining performance of Le Corsaire from ABT. This season at ABT the principal women have been falling like flies due to injury (currently, Isabella Boylston, Veronika Part, Gillian Murphy and Maria Kochetkova are on the DL list). What this has meant is lots of opportunities for soloists, and the 6/8 performance showcased the talents both of veteran soloist Sarah Lane (Gulnare) and the newer Skylar Brandt (Medora).…

The group of friends standing right in front of us jumped and sang every word of the songs being sung. We were only 30 seconds into the first song he sang, there was no one in the crowd in sight just standing there. Days before, I remember counting down for the day to approach. Waiting for that day filled with country music, sunshine, cowboy boots, and hats. It was the stereotypical perfect day, i've been waited for this the entire summer, ever since we heard of it on Wild Country 99.…

On Tuesday May 10, I attended a concert by the rock band, Dorothy at The Echo. The band lineup included: Dorothy Martin(vocals), Mark Jackson(guitar), Gregg Cash (bass), Zac Morris (Drums). Unfortunately, I was only able to hear two original songs of their own creation: “Missile” and “After Midnight”. Both songs were met with enthusiastic applause and praise. I was actually anxious to see them perform live as they were mentioned in Rolling Stone magazine as a promising new band and because I had fallen in love with the song, “After Midnight”, in particular.…

At eight in the evening on Friday, November 4th, a band called The Neighbourhood performed at the Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas. Opening for them were the bands Manchester Orchestra and Chappo. Being a major longtime fan of both The Neighbourhood and Manchester Orchestra, I felt incredibly lucky to have family living near Dallas who were willing to provide a place to stay for myself and my husband to attend the concert and see a new city. The entire performance was impressive, extremely hyped, and emotional, all the way from the audience all the way to up on stage. While I knew of the first two bands mentioned, I knew nothing of Chappo and it was cool to hear something new live and in person.…

If you were to hear one of their songs on the radio you would immediately know it was them and start singing along, just like you would with a catchy 80’s song. Antonoff has accomplished things his former bands, Fun has yet to and Steel Train never did. It was a great move on his part to branch out and expand his musical creativity and share it with the world through his band’s new album, Strange Desire. The entire album has achieved something that not many bands today have, absolute inspiration. With each listen the album gets better and better and you take something different away each time.…

As I mention before, this band made tribute to many British bands. For example, the first song that they played was, “We Will Rock You” of the rock band Queen; the lead guitarist started playing solo, and another solo by the drummer. In other hand, the second guitar started to make some effects, followed by the vocalist that started to animate the audience, after that the drums and guitar were played softly. But the energy kept at the highest…
