Imagine getting to make all of your decisions in your everyday life. Imagine no one holding you back from doing what you really want to do. This is important because a lot of people are told what to do in life without getting to make their own decisions. I think that it is important for people to make their own choices in life. In this argumentative essay, I am going to outline why it is important for people to make their own choices in life.

Body

To begin, in the argumentative essay, “Ban the Ban,” the author SidneyAnne Stone outlines how the government shouldn’t be making decisions about us involving soda sizes and what we eat. Stone says that “I agree wholeheartedly that obesity is an issue that needs to be addressed. It is one that needs to be addressed with education, compassion and support, not government mandates.” What she is saying is that the government should not be controlling how people improve on their issues,

Chief Joseph states “Let me be a free man-free to travel, free to stop, free to work, free to trade where I choose, free to choose my own teachers, free to follow the religion of my fathers, free to think and talk and act for myself.” Chief Joseph outlines that we should be free to do all of the above things. He also says that we should be free to think, talk, and act for ourselves. What he is saying here is that we shouldn’t be told what to do, we should be able to do it for ourselves, and not for someone else. We should be free to do what we want, and not be held back by no one doing anything for us, or not helping us at all, like how the government did not help Chief Joseph’s people.
