Clear and measureable goals are going to need to be made in regards to the local decision to ban all digital and traditional outdoor billboards. As a manager of a outdoor advertising agency this problem directly affect the business we do negatively. Using a rational decision-making model we can identifty that 1. The problem: The banning of all outdoor billboards (our main business), 2. The decision criteria: handling the five employees in regards to their actions, the decision made must be a utilitarian decision as in for the best of the whole, it must keep PR levels normal, and must improve employee moral. 3. Alternatives: there are obviously several different choices the organization can make and need to make, one alternative is that the company try to dispute the banning of local billboards, it could also relocate, comply with the changes and change business from billboards to another alternative of advertising, shut the business down and withdraw, or try to work on a national level rather than local. 5. As far as making a statement to the public in regards to the ban and stating that I agree that the environment in the city will be less cluttered and it can be understood why the decision was made to ban advertisements, inform the media that you will be effected by the decision but the company will take this change as an opportunity not a threat. A note to the arrested employees would go something like, It has become aware by management and the general public that you were arrested along with four other employees in regards to “disturbing the peace”. Management does understand that your reaction to the banning may have been out of frusteration and worry about your job security. We all have been impacted by this and are taking steps to avoid the entire company from falling. In regards to the arrest we will post bail for you / compensate you if you have already have. Although your actions were extreme please have faith in your employer to handle the situation, we will work as a team as it is far more effective than fighting on an individual level,
