Ball Bounces Results

Improved Essays
The main question focused on while doing this experiment was, “How many times does the ball bounce before coming to a rest? “ There were four groups and each one had a different ball in size to get a variety in the data. Each group did their own data analysis depending on the number of the bounces their ball did. Every group was expected to release the ball from their hands and count the number of bounces before coming to a stop which was then repeated 10 times. Once every group completed their task, the groups collaborated by sharing their results and combining all 40 numbers. By doing this, it would compare the results of one ball to the combination of all the balls.

Since the ball contains mass, the ball does not sit still once it is released from our hands and touches the ground. Instead the ball would fall to the ground but then would bounce back up due to the speed and its circular shape. The amount of bounces with our basketball range from eight to ten. Each group had a different ball so there was variety of numbers on how many times the ball bounces before it stops. Within our team, the highest number was 11 and when compared to the class data, it was 16. As for the box plots, the class data had a wider range whereas my team was more compacted within the number of eight through eleven. For this histogram, ten had the most occurrence and the class data had a tie between eight and ten. After gathering all the data, it is still quite difficult to answer the questions since the data consisted of different sizes of ball. Also the last couple bounces cannot be calculated exactly and can only be an estimation. It would be much simpler to answer, “what is the mean number of the ball bounces before coming to rest?” since it is a number that can actually be calculated within our

The assignment covered A01, measuring frequency due to the behavior being measured as the number of times objects were thrown. FK-22 and D-21 were used in the intervention. However, these were not practiced during the assignment. The assignment was not difficult, but I did receive some assistance during the group discussion on separating the data lines between the baseline and intervention. The graph displayed a downward trend for the behavior, indicating the intervention was successful.…

Pool Pockets Problem Statement: In this POW you have to find the rebounds on a rectangular pool table (4 holes) with whole number distances. Every shot is shot at a 45 degree angle and always shot from the lower left corner and what pocket it lands in. Process: I started out by drawing many rectangles with each many different dimensions ( 2*3, 2*1, 4*10, 2*9, etc.) Then i did the actual problem /experiment and counted the rebounds on each rectangle, and each will be shot from the bottom left hand corner.…

P.O.W 14 Pool Problem Kainoa Harada Problem Statement: The problem in this P.O.W is to find a formula to find how many times a ball would rebound off a table, with varying squares and rectangles to take into equation. Though there can be two separate formulas for each figure. And if you believe, there is a SUPER FORMULA that a group can find once every school year... Process: The process I, and my group, used to solve this problem was simply counting the height and width then drawing the lines the pool ball would travel. Once it hit a whole that would mark the end of the line counting, and however many lines, while using our formula, is the amount of rebounds that figure had. The book backs this up with showing the rebounds of a rectangle,…

Dribbling is the act of bouncing the ball off the floor with one hand. Initially, movement with the ball was restricted to passing as players were limited by the original thirteen rules. Experimentation by players led to the idea of dribbling as it did not violate these rules and allowed players to advance with the ball (Frazier, et al., 1998, p.38). Dribbling was seen as a way to further increase the pace of the game and help the offence avoid defensive pressures. Once officially adopted, players were allowed to bounce the ball once, after which they could only pass the ball.…
