School is an extremely stressful time and stress can easily become overbearing for those who strive for excellence in education. Some students, like myself, have part-time jobs while attending school. While upholding such a tight schedule, it can be very difficult to find time to study and do assignments. A job is a requirement so that money is accessible and payments for education are available. School can be expensive and student loans add up, so a job is needed to pay for it. Working late hours or having to stay up to late hours of the night can result in a lack of sleep when your alarm for your eight o’clock begins to ring. A lack of sleep can result in poor performance in school and at your job. As a result, your grades could plummet because you fell asleep while studying. Also, you may begin to fall asleep during class or while working because you’re completely drained from a long work shift and staying up until three o’clock writing an essay. In addition, a proper diet may not be achieved. Fast food may make its way into the mix and you may rule out three meals a day. Meals with be few and far between and you may start eating more or less than advised. Stress eating could lead to obesity and not eating because of stress or because you don’t have time could be detrimental to your health and can make it harder to feel energized or get anything done. If your schedule is packed with work and school, it will be impossible to find time to exercise and stay healthy. Exercise is key to feeling better about yourself and taking care of your body and organs. A healthy lifestyle is a must to being able to focus and be energized to take care of your busy schedule and maintaining your grades.
All things considered, a job can negatively affect your grades, a healthy lifestyle, and create a difficult balance for school and work. In my opinion, it will be detrimental to your studies to try to

The experience that I went through and that I would like to share was when I played golf in the beginning of the year. I was fine managing my schedule during the first week or two of school, but then I started getting more and more homework as the weeks went on. I had a hard time keeping up with my school work and playing golf. I practiced every day after school and I didn’t really have any time after school to do my homework. Playing golf took up basically all of my time because I played it 5-7 days a week between practicing with the school team or practicing with my golf instructor/coach.…

The pressures include: economic pressure, parental pressure, peer pressure and self-induced pressure. These students had an immense amount of pressure, and Zinsser’s wish was for them to delight in their educational journey. A quote from the textbook this week I have selected is: Values are the deeply held convictions that influence your thinking when you are faced with choices. (Sukiennik 37)I choose this quote because, I believe that people deal with this on a daily bases. Like advertising, its set up by a corporation and their values to influence the person to buy their product. For example a beauty product can alter a person's opinion about themselves give the people a choice over a cheap imitation product or a product that will last but more expensive. But in reality it all depends on a person values on their decision on making that choice whether they want to buy an expensive product that may cost them 50 dollars or buy cheap imitation that will cost 10 dollars but, doesn't last that long.…
