Following is a mock interview with a fictitious client being challenged by a decision to go back to school.
Therapist: So Mary, I know you have been wrestling around with going back to school to finish degree. How are you doing …show more content…
They haven’t had that experience. I wouldn’t worry so much, we can live really close to campus and they could literally ride their bikes to school. I think they might be able to be freer. You know playing and stuff. I had that, it would be nice to give them that.
Therapist: So it doesn’t sound like your kids are much of an issue.
Client: I guess not, now that I weigh it out. This could be good for them, but what about money?
Therapist: What about money?
Client: I wouldn’t have as much money, because I can only work part time.
Therapist: So how would not having as much money affect you?
Client: I wouldn’t be able to buy as much stuff for the kids, and I would have to watch things, not like now?
Therapist: How would that affect you?
Client: I would have to watch my money; I hate that. And I wouldn’t be able to have a housekeeper and stuff like that.
Therapist: Is that important to you?
Client: No, not really when you put it with finally getting my degree. I when I am done I could get such a better job.
Therapist: So what are your other concerns?
