Toothbrush
A toothbrush is not just for brushing your teeth, it is also an effective way to keep your retainer clean and free from calcium build-up or bacteria. I recommend to all my patients that they get into the habit of brushing their retainer daily and to just make it part of their evening routine.
A soft bristled toothbrush is best for your brushing needs as it is effective at removing plaque but still gentle on your teeth’s enamel. This type of toothbrush is a great cleaning tool that will keep your retainer looking and feeling like new for years to come.
Castile Soap
Castile soap is an oil based liquid cleaner that is quickly becoming a great alternative to the traditional body washes or bar soaps. The advantage of castile soap is that unlike many of the other cleaners that are available on the market, castile soap contains natural ingredients such as coconut oil.
Put a few drops in a cup of water and mix it thoroughly. Place your retainer in the cup and let it soak. Remember to wash your retainer off before using it.
Here’s the
