The music that the group produced was smooth throughout the concert. In the second song, the trumpet player used the technique of covering the hole of the trumpet where the sound comes out of with his hand and it made the trumpet sound similar to the trombone. The music was smooth and slow enough that one could move to it and follow along with it. In another song, I liked that the trumpet player was playing something that sounded like a vibrato and as if he was alternating between the same two notes quickly. The group played an interesting song named “First Light”, by Freddie Hubbard where the trumpet was the main performer. J.T. Butler constantly informed the audience about the Bakersfield Jazz Festival and invited everyone there to attend the event. He also introduced each musician and spoke good about them. While playing music, Doug Davis danced as he played the keyboard and did not stop smiling. During their solos, they stopped and watched each other do their solos. They looked much older than other musicians I have seen perform at The Mark. The musicians also helped open the doors for the employees, which was an extremely nice gesture.
