Heterosexuality is an implied privilege by the Black community, however, scholars argue that they are “psychologically enslaved” (Pentony, 1971, p. 61), and believed to be constraining themselves from their privileges instead. The mythical norm, “defined as white, thin, male, young, heterosexual, Christian, and finally secure” (Lorde, 2001, p. 178), has been eluding individuals who desire to fit the norm.
