Bait thrown, Han's mind slid into the uncertainty of where the shallows ended and deep water took up. Steadfast tenacity clutched Han’s chest, and he grimaced in the face of it. The face of Luke. An acerbic zip of deception watered his tongue.
Like that of the gutted planet of Coruscant, Han was no longer secure in himself, as if something had turned his insides out. Disquiet frayed the edges of his weary mind, tugging the seams, loose until the mental rampart he’d sustained for the better half of a year without his love, tore in half.
Han shook his head as if he couldn’t untangle the intent behind Luke’s oblique statement. The insinuation that had been a reason why Luke abandoned the ones who loved him most. ❝You’ve changed,❞ he said,
