Badger Influence

Growing up in Southeastern Wisconsin, I’ve been raised tied and true to a family of Badger alumni and fans. On any given Badger gameday, you’ll be hearing my dad chant “Let’s go Red!!!” around the lower floor of my house. There’s a spirit in the Badger name like no other, and it isn’t limited simply to our great state of Wisconsin, our Badger influence has spread infectiously to every corner of the United States. I love the University of Wisconsin in so many ways. Practically half of my wardrobe is made up of every type of Badger clothing imaginable. At the University, alongside my studies, an immense number of clubs, sports, and student organizations are found on campus. While on the website, scrolling through the list of possible student involvements early in my Junior year, my eye was quickly attracted to rowing. For most students, …show more content…
While I’ve always considered running to be my strong suit, learning how to expand my athletic horizons would ultimately be a sign of my growing maturity as I begin the next chapter of my life and 4 years of continued involvement on campus. Throughout high school, being a member of multiple team sports impacted me greatly in a multitude of ways. I clearly remember the first day of high school, after training with my Cross Country team the majority of the summer, I felt that I already knew people with similar interests as me all around my school. In many ways, rowing achieves the same idea. Along with my roommates, and peers attending Madison from my High School, I would have members of the rowing team to fall back on, study with, explore campus life with, and build lasting friendships after my 4 years on campus are complete. Possibly the single most intriguing aspect of the rowing team at UW Madison is its acceptance of walk-on individuals.
