Bad Words In Middle School

Cussing has been around for longer than teens have been around, but it raises the question of why teens cuss. It's in the media, having tv shows,music, and public figures with mature language.Most people say their parents taught them bad words or in middle school is when they really learned the words and how to use them.

In the school of Park Hill the halls are filled with foul language and inappropriate names. Teachers have their own opinions about the language in the halls and classroom. While students know the rules but don't seem to care while in public or the halls. Calling it fun and just something to do.

Most students said that the unsaid rule of being taught not to say "bad words" during school is what keeps them from cursing

When asked about the emotion behind the words many said they just wanted to have fun. Some groups at school, like the Guard here, have rules about cursing and not doing it. All members said if you were to curse while near a coach you were to get a mom look and a bit of disappointment. Their coach doesn’t do cursing because it ruins the reputation that she has build for the team.

When asked about if it is used to start fights there was a bit of a split having Ben and Ms.Corten saying that the words provoc emotion, while the younger students said that the words have no real emotional effect. Younger and older students all agreed that the words can be used as weapons against one another if used in that manner.

All students agree that there are words that you shouldn’t use or that can be taken to a level of hurt no one wants. Natalie told reporters that she hates degrading words, same as Alicia, Azalea, and Ben.

“All Cuss Words are cool other than Fag and the “N” word,” Alicia Stout.

Ben is an open gay student here at Park Hill, he told reporters he can be okay with the use of Fag/Faggot, but he believes to say it you need to be in the LGBT+Q community. All students agree that use of the “N” word wasn’t to be used anywhere, some students say it can be used for learning purposes as it shows up in
