Uncle Dave Macon Career In 1920, at the age of fifty, Uncle Dave chose to close the Macon Midway Mule and Wagon Transportation Company because motorized vehicles made wagons obsolete (Keep My Skillet Good and Greasy 12-14). The next year, Uncle Dave played for a fundraiser in Morrison, which not only reached its goal, but had sufficient funds to also result in him being paid (A Photo Tribute 11), helping to confirm his hopes to make a living with his music. “For the next two years, Dave Macon played for hire at many different venues in Middle Tennessee, southern Kentucky, and northern Alabama. It was during this period that he adopted the stage name ‘Uncle Dave Macon’”, says Doubler (A Photo Tribute 11).…
Pride can be a very destructive force. I think brother is innocent because for one reason he cared for Doodle. My second reason would be that he cried for his brother and loved is brother. Either though Doodle died i dont think it was the brothers fault! The brother wasn't his parents his parents should have known better to let Doodle out of their site with a little boy.…

Then, After a long two years of exercise and training, she’s able to climb out of the community, and even though she goes through a lot of trouble, she finally gets to her son. First, the main conflict in this story is that Claire knows who her son is, but she doesn’t have any idea where he is, so she wants to find him. Two of the hardest decisions that come from the conflict are, deciding if she wants to climb out of the community and lose the life she has, and trading her youth to the trade master so she can get into the new community.…
When someone undermines the government for the greater good, can they be considered a hero? In Little Brother, a high school senior named, Marcus Yallow, risks his safety in attempt to save his town. He was on the streets after a bombing of the Bay Bridge, then he was taken to a “prison” to be questioned to make sure he wasn’t a terrorist. Marcus arrived home 3 days later and was absolutely furious with Homeland Security and he was going to do something about it. In Little Brother, by Cory Doctorow, I personally think that Marcus is a hero because not many people have done something as brave as going against the government and he just wanted to help the citizens of his city.…

As long as goodness is in the son, then there will be a hope for humanity. The boy is deeply uncomfortable with leaving the other good guys behind, and ends up coercing his father into giving some food into an old blind man. The father agrees but does so begrudgingly.…
According to Smith (2008), SVO also means that in a simple sentence, the first noun phrase is the subject, and the subsequent predicate includes the verb phrase and may contain an object. This allows English speakers to understand that in the sentence, for instance, "The boy kicked the ball," the "boy" is the subject, and therefore the one doing the kicking, whereas the "ball" is the object being kicked. If someone wrote the sentence, "The ball kicked the boy," the meaning would be reversed somewhat strangely, and "Kicked the ball the boy," would immediately be recognized as a violation of basic syntactical order and read as nonsense.…
Introduction In the case of Mr. Leroy and his twin sons, Jon and Gem, there seems to be a classic example of good son bad son. Jon and Gem, once reared in healthy social environment for the core years of the children’s lives, suddenly turned into a single parent household with the social environment declining to that of unhealthiness, the neighborhood became ran down, crime riddled and drug infested. Mr. Leroy having to work two jobs has taken away his supervision over the children enabling Jon and Gen to make self-decision. With the opportunity to excel at a better school, Jon accepted the opportunity and Gem did not causing a drastic separation in the two that led Jon to higher heights and Gem to lower ones.…
During a time where the struggle to survive is a violent battle, the young boy’s compassion and concern for others is uncommon, portraying the child as an inhuman figure. The boy’s striking qualities cause the father to believe that the child is a God, giving the man hope in the barbaric world. In addition, the boy separates the man from death as he is his father’s reason to survive and resist giving up. The man continues to rise every morning as his only hope in the world lies beside him, breathing. Moreover, the father relies on the confirmation of his son’s life to ensure hope still exists every morning.…
The child although becomes skeptic after a certain point. He refuses to believe that the stories the father tells of helpful and chivalrous fold are true and he becomes doubtful that they are the “good guys” and are “carrying the fire”. When a thief steals their belongings and his father catches and punishes the thief by stripping him naked of his clothes and shoes, in the splintering cold of the landscape The Road is set in, the boy literally pleads and begs his father to let the thief go and even starts crying because he understands the need and hurt of others and doesn’t want him punished because he was starving and did what he thought he should do and also did not try to hurt them physically (McCarthy 96). The boy doesn’t understand the need for the “good guys” to hurt anyone even if they themselves try to hurt the boy and his father because then to the boy there will be no real difference between them and the “bad guys” that he has come to know. He at one point becomes doubtful of whether they are good or not and does not feel good committing these acts of survival, according to his father, and feels complicit in them when his father does…
The man’s love for his son leads him to selflessly give up himself, so he can provide the boy with the physical, emotional, and spiritual necessities he feels are important. The strong religious base the man has becomes apparent in how he views the boy. Being trapped in such a dark world could easily bring on the idea that trying to raise a child is impossible or even crueler for the child than death.…
If the man had been more understanding and willing to accept him he wouldn't have killed the boy and had to spend his wish. This proves that you shouldn't just assume what someone is going to do or it could lead to a tragic…
