“There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. ‘Good Pride represents our dignity and self respected. ‘Bad Pride’ is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance.” This quote by John C. Maxwell explains how pride could be good or bad. Also, there are many quotes from the short story, “The Scarlet Ibis,” saying how pride could be wonderful or terrible. Pride is a terrible thing to have because it could lead you to hurt others, ruin relationships, and becoming arrogant.
But, pride is a good trait to process because it could lead you to become more self-respectful and to wanting to help others. This quote from the short story,"the Scarlet Ibis,"reveals how the narrator was full of pride and left Doodle in the storm, which then lead to Doodle's death. Another example of pride being a bad trait is that pride could ruin relationships.
