As we age, our hair goes through a variety of changes. These changes include turning gray or white due to the cells no longer producing pigment, thinning hair due to genetics and narrow hair follicles and hair that is coarse instead of smooth. Keep your locks healthy in your senior years with these simple tips.

1. Cut Back on Chemical Treatments

Dry, brittle and coarse hair can be a natural result of aging; however, hair treatments can worsen this natural effect and make hair extra brittle and more prone to breakage. Regularly dying the hair, straightening treatments and perms can all damage hair. Try going for longer periods of time between hair treatments and use regular deep conditioners to moisturize dry, damaged hair.
