Gun Control On October 3, 2017 "New York Times" Associate Professor of Purdue University and New York Times best-selling essay collection Bad Feminist Ms. Roxane Gay argues that it's time to address concerns of gun control. Gay makes her case after the incident of the Las Vegas shooting. Gay describes in short account of who Stephen Paddock the Las Vegas shooting is, however, goes into great detail regarding the guns that were in his position. Gay also claims that gun stores should have adequate policies for permitting citizens to properly hold weapons that are semi-auto. Gay's opinion was "Once and for all, that the Second Amendment matter" (Gay par.9). Gay advocate that ordinary citizens should not have the right to bear automatic rifles. Gay wants the Americans to take a stand against mass shootings and the purchase of automatic and semi-automatic weapons committed by those who obtained them legally. Gay shows the Second Amendment is being challenged by means of guns regulations considering mass shootings such as Las Vegas shooting and the shooter that caused such massive destructive. Stephen Paddock exercised is rights of Second Amendment the right to bear arms, however, abused his privilege to deliver hell on the men and woman during a family concert. The weapons used to kill concert spectators were purchased locally and legally at " Guns & Guitars" a strip mall in Nevada and New Frontier Armory. Both stores claimed that when he bought the weapons that “All state and federal laws were followed, and the F.B.I. background checks took place and were passed by the buyer” (Gay par.3). Both shops cannot be charged with any crimes for the weapons the shooter purchased, were purchased legally at the time. in which the owner of the shops maintains "my hands are clean" (Gay par.4). Gay discusses what happened after the shooting from which the news contacted Erick (Paddock's brother) to ask questions about his brother. Yet Erick asked the same question that everyone else had " Where did he get all those weapons"(Gay par.4) The Nevada police found twenty-three legal, permitted weapons in the hotel room of which was used to kill the innocent of men, woman, and children. There were 42 total legal guns found between the Las Vegas shooter home and hotel
