Background Checks: A Case Study

Companies have been using background checks and applications that ask criminal history yes and no questions for decades now. These background checks have been used to help managers, supervisors, and other forms of leadership weed out bad applicants in hopes to find the perfect candidate making the hiring process easier.
The “All of Us or None civil rights movement of formerly incarcerated people” believes that the initial part of hiring which includes the background check are stereotyping people by judging them on their criminal record verses their skills and qualification before even receiving an interview(“Ban the Box Campaign”, n.d.).
