Carol Cohen, did a informative speech on ted.com on the topic of “How to get Back to Work after a Career Break.” She started off with informing the audience on the problems that people face with the attempt to go back to work. This allowed for the audience to know what she was going to talk about and clarified any starting questions. She followed with real life examples of people who returned to work and were successful. By sharing these stories she gave her listeners hope in finding a job.
As she got into the body of presentation she made her presentation personal. This automatically got my attention. Because she was able to sympathize with the crowd. This show her credibility, she was informed on the topic had a first hand experience with this issue. It also, allowed her to be more vulnerable which her audience can appreciate. Carol’s story was also a perfect example, it emphasized her point instead of derailing it. Her life experience gave the perfect amount of hope, but not forgetting to share the necessity of hard work.

The entire Angela Davis lecture was phenomenal. She discussed so many topics and interacted with the audience, which turned the lecture into a fun experience and not only informative but also very entertaining to listen to and watch. I would grade the lecture with an A. I love how she related everything from the past to present because in reality not much has changed when it comes to racism and slavery and the challenges we face as not only African American but also being an African American woman. One of my favorite parts was how she ended the lecture with a question and answer portion and how many of the students were not afraid to ask very challenging questions and of course her response was just as in depth.…

When it comes to Global warming, being a vegetarian should be turned to as a first resort rather than going more toward the Prius, a car that has been made to cut vehicle emissions in half in an attempt to fight against global warming. Kathy Freston’s article “Vegetarian is the new Prius” caught my eye immediately when choosing an essay for the very fact that, I want Toyota Prius, and also because I’ve tried going vegetarian. Although I see nothing wrong with being a vegetarian, the lifestyle just didn’t work for me. I do to a certain extent agree with her argument because ever since I took ecology in high school, the environment has been very important to me, and I do what I can to help preserve it. Freston wrote that President Herbert Hoover promised a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage”.…

I choose Human Trafficking because it is something that I do not know to much about personally. I have seen some of it in different forms of media, such as television and in the news, but other than that it is talked about very much. It was very interesting actually seeing facts about it. I did second guess myself when doing both Major Assignment one and Major Assignment two.
