There are several reasons why students decided to drop out of college – poor counseling, work opportunities, family and financial responsibilities. Often times, due to the lack of money to pursue a college, vocational or technical training are some of the main reasons why most students are forced to work after high school or attend college on a part-time. In some cases, parents cannot afford to pay the education of their children in college, therefore, parents might send their kids to study any short career, or they just make them find a job. Sometimes, students drop-out because they do not receive enough help from parents, or schools; which it would help them set a higher standard and will more likely to achieve more in life. Although people want to succeed in life and become professionals, they have to work a full-time job, in order to support themselves. Speaking for myself I was one of them, I would ask myself whether to continue to get a higher education, which means going to college or university, or just start working and planning my life right away. Different people will have different choices of their own, but for me, I think there are three main reasons why I decided to attend college; first, I has no excused to not attend college when I has full support from my mother. Second, if my mother got her Master Degree being a single mother and without support of her family support, why disappoint her. Third, I saw differences on those who have a higher education and those who no type of education. For example, my father was born in California, and yet dropout of high school at the age of 15; having no skills and education lead him to the wrong path. On the other hand my mother was an immigrant, a single mother; and living in poverty made her enroll to college. Within 6 years, my mother has earned her Master Degree, she had to surface many things at the time but now she living the life that she never imagine of; without having to independent on any one.
