Exercise increases muscle strength, something that is very important when it pertains to the muscles in your back since a strong back is the cornerstone to building strong muscles, and a strong body.

Back Muscle Exercises increase muscular strength and a strong back allows you to support your spine more effectively.

Stretching before working out is always important, but never more so than when you’re planning on exercising your back muscles. Stretching will make the muscles in your back loose which will allow you to work the muscles harder with less risk of injury.

Your back can be divided into three separate areas, upper, middle and lower, and there are different back muscle exercises which will properly target each of these areas.

Upper Back

Barbell and dumbbell shrugs force you to utilize your upper back while upright rows focus on your traps. Lat pull downs and close grip chin ups focus on your latissimus dorsi which is one of the major muscles in your back and therefore needs to be a focus of your back muscle exercise

Another important back muscle exercise that puts the focus on your upper back is bent over barbell rows.

Middle Back

Building back muscle is important and the focus on the middle back is an important factor in building back muscle. Rows are the best course of action for building back muscle in the middle back. These rows include barbell rows, seated rows, one arm dumbbell rows and t-bar rows.

Lower Back

The lower back is key to a proper regiment of back muscle exercise. The best lower back exercises are heavy dead lifts and the bent over barbell rows, which is the granddaddy of all back muscle exercise.
