Back In Town Monologue

The Boys are Back In Town

Guess who just got back today,
Them wild-eyed boys that'd been away,
Haven't changed, had much to say,
But man, I still think them cats are crazy.
They were askin' if you were around,
How you was, where you could be found.
Told them you were livin' downtown,
Drivin' all the old men crazy.

The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town.
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town.

You know that chick that used to dance a lot,
Every night, she'd be on the floor, shakin' what she's got.
Man, when I tell ya she was cool, she was red hot.
And that time over at johnny's place,
Well, this chick, she got up and slapped johnny's face,

Man, we just fell about the place,
If that chick don't want to know, forget

Shimmering lights lit up the crowded streets of New York City like the stars of the night sky; they made up for the fact that you couldn’t see the real ones. My feet felt like concrete blocks attached to my legs as I walked, I guess you could call it, through numerous groups of locals and tourists, all I’m sure who could tell easily that I had quite an edge. They didn’t know why, and frankly neither did I. All I knew was that I wanted to be by her side. I had first encountered Mabel one random night when I stumbled upon the 42 Club after leaving work, grimy and dirty from fixing up snobby, rich guys' cars all day and hating my life.…

The moment you step foot on the field you get that rush of this is where I belong. The bright lights in your face like the blazing sun in your eyes. The smell of the fresh cut grass that seeps into your nose like the fresh air. The found grass stains that have penetrated your uniform like a little green army that have marked their territory.…

First I stop over on high Wire Street to pick up Mitch then I only have one more road to drive down to pick up Tom and Betty Ocala. Once Betty has finally found her keys I’m off to pick up the only girl I’ve ever known that was able to spit a lugi from one side of Cooper River all the way to the other and still look beautiful doing it. Jackie Rodayo was a 5’5 red head with ivy skin but not one freckle could be found on her. She laughed when she wasn’t supposed to and would somehow get us into all sorts of trouble growing up. One time in high school she convinced me to run for homecoming king, but that wasn’t the bad part she dared me that when I walk down the football field in the ceremony to take of my dress shirt and reveal my t-shirt underneath which read “Principle Hartman sucks balls”.…
