Chronic back pain is a widespread issue that affects people throughout their entire lives. It doesn’t target specific types of people and can affect anyone, even new parents. New parents are finding it hard to find a comfortable baby carrier that doesn’t put too much strain on their aching backs. In an essay titled “Sage Femme” the author Samantha Tengelitsch uses many rhetorical strategies such as repetition, contrast, imagery, narrative and certain appeals to develop her argument. The description of the room she gave birth in creates imagery and establishes a peaceful visualization for her audience and illustrates her perspective. The BABIES movie wasn’t at all what I thought I’d be. I was under the impression that there would be a narrator that would guide my train of thought and my perspective of these childrearing cultures. But, to my surprise, a word was never said throughout the whole film. She acknowledges the fact that giving birth to a premature infant has a grueling impact on everyone in the family and even the medical staff who cares for the infant. Perez explains, “I understand the guilt anxiety, fear, and host of other emotion that come along with parenting a preemie.” She continues to explain that many women do not know they are going to give birth to a premature baby, while others are fully aware they may give birth to a premature infant. Kangaroo Mother Care is defined as a technique involving skin-to-skin contact. It involves the baby wearing only a cloth on their back and a diaper. Kangaroo care began in 1978 in Bogotá, Colombia. The reason the practice had began was there was a death rate of nearly 70 percent for infants that were premature. The main causes for infant death rates during that time included infants getting infections, infants having problems with their respiratory systems, and having no attention given to them (Charpak, 2010).…
