When I was younger, about seven or eight, I was afraid to leave my mom. If she was going out for dinner or something nice with my dad, I would latch onto her, my parents would try to pry me off, but failed to do so. Crying so hard, every single time she went anywhere, I would wait by the door crying, just waiting for her. Eventually my parents had to take me to the doctors to find out what was going on. We found out that I had some separation anxiety issues, which affected my mental/emotional health. My parents tried everything to help me. It got to a point where our babysitter couldn't even calm me down. I would stop talking to everyone except for my family for a while, I wouldn't even go outside to play with my neighbors, this affected my social and physical health. …show more content…
She came over introduced herself, I think her name was Emily. Right when my parents were about to leave, I started to cry, like always. After about 10 minutes of them trying to pry me off my mom, I gave up and they got to enjoy their night, unlike me. Sobbing, asking when my mom would come home waiting by the door, this routine went on for a long period of time. Emily came over to me and told me a story from her childhood. She got to a part where she said that when she was a kid, she went through the same fear I did, being separated from her parents. I leaned in closer to give her a hug and she asked if I was okay because I stopped crying. Realizing I was fine, I responded with a simple “yeah”. I was fine for the rest of the day. When my parents got home they were surprised. I finally got outside and was talking to my neighbors again. I remember that I was the happiest i'd ever been. Ever since then, I wasn't afraid on my parents leaving, it was good to have someone who experienced what I had experienced. My physical, social and mental health had improved all thanks to knowing that I wasn’t
