The researcher visited the babies’ houses once a month during a period of one year. They observed the interaction between the mother and their babies as well as they interviewed the mothers to be able to analyse evidences. The aim of this research was to measure types of attachment in research study called “strange situation”.
The research was carried out as follows. The research was divided in eight procedures. In the first and second stage the mother plays and interacts with the baby; in the third stage, a stranger enters into the room; the stranger plays with the baby and the mother leaves in the fourth stage. Seconds later in the fifth stage, the mother returns; the infant stays alone in sixth stage; in seventh seven the strange enters into the room and the infant show signs of anxiety and in the eight stage, the mother comes back and stranger leaves. The results of the research indicated three main types of attachment with a 70% of security attachment and 15% ambivalent and avoidant attachment. Security attachment is developed when the mother responds to the baby’s needs, that is when the baby feels secure and safe. Avoidant attachment takes place when the baby does not depend on the attachment figure; this is due to the insensitivity of the care giver.
