In this entry, I believe that I have successfully compared the Caste System to the social structure of the ancient Egyptians in multiple ways. I have talked about how the Caste System ”was permanent until death” but said that the ancient Egyptians could “climb the social ladder by serving the pharaoh in the army.” I then went on comparing the belief of an “eternal life in paradise” to reincarnation as well as the Dalits to the peasants. For I have been I able to contrast these two systems I believe that my understanding of the Caste System and that of the ancient Egyptians was fully developed when I wrote this entry. Yet, maybe I could have compared the Caste System to systems other then the one of the ancient Egyptians. For the second part of the question, I have spent quite some time thinking about it, and have come to a bigger realization of the effects of the Caste System on modern day India. I was also familiar with this topic from some research I had done and videos that I have watched. For this entry we were asked to write down the successes and failures the Twitter assignment had experienced, as well as how this assignment mimicked debate in a modern democracy. For the first part I have talked about how the “Twitter assignment was a good way for people’s ideas to be heard”. However, I also mentioned that “people only tweeted to get their message across,” leading to repetitiveness. This is why I believe that this part of my entry is relevant to the prompt given. Moreover, my opinions have not changed much since the time the Twitter assignment took place. The assignment itself was great, leading us to think about certain questions, like I have mentioned in my entry. Though I think it could have involved more debating. For the second portion of the entry, I had talked about how our Twitter assignment mimicked debate in a modern democracy. Referring to the first part of my entry, I stated how both in our Twitter assignment and in modern democracy people rarely considered the opinions of the opposing side while debating. Though I said this, I believe that I could have justified my answer with a few personal experiences. In addition, I could have also provided examples other than those of the citizen’s view. In summary, I believe that my answer for the second portion of the question demonstrates an understanding that has
