To produce babies , sharks have to find a mate, or partner of the opposite sex. Female sharks attract the attention of males by releasing perfumed chemicals into the water. If a male shark is interested, it may chase after the female and bite it. A baby sharks starts to form when a sperm cell from a male shark joins together with an egg inside a female shark.
