Once the friend realises their mistake it’s too late to admit it and they end up covering up one blunder after another and insisting that people find a way to work around it. Sometimes they are merely next in line for that promotion and when their boss moves out they move in. They inherit the title and everyone else inherits a nightmare.
How to Recognise a Baby King
• Baby Kings will openly speak about their titles with a sense of pride, as if they are the only person to ever arrive at said rank, and they will resent doing anything that they deem beneath them.
• They will use demeaning or derogatory words or phrases like ‘bottom feeders,’ ‘minions’ or ‘grass roots’ to describe those that are lower in the hierarchy.
• They openly display a disregard for general etiquette, as if they are above it and therefore not expected to comply. They will talk over others and take phone calls during meetings and think nothing of it.
• They are vain and conceited and think that the world revolves around them. They will be late for meetings without apology, disrupt others without reason or concern and they put their petty whims before other people’s needs which sometimes makes them spiteful for no good reason at
