In the early 1960s, the style influences of the 1950s were still in circulation, but the debut of Britain’s supergroup The Beatles, threw fashion into overdrive. “Beatlemaina” ignited the obsession with everything British. Along with The Beatles, came the “Mod” trend. “Mod” (short for Modern) replaced the pastel hues of the 50s with bright colors, bold geometric shapes, boxy jackets and patent shoes. British designer Mary Quant is credited with the introduction of the mini skirt, hot pants and colored tights. Makeup also included vibrant colors.
