American’s attitudes about women’s rights and roles become significantly more liberal during half of the past century. Yet even today,when most American’s express the core feminist belief that women should be equal to men across different areas. The Baby boom cohort, which were born between the time frame of 1946 and 1959. People have argued for decades on why is there such a large impact on women during the baby boom. Those answers differ from the woman 's place is in the home to where women and men should have an equal role. The General Social Survey (GSS), which is a cumulative index and it was given for the responses of four different items; “A working mother can establish just as warm and secure a relationship with her children as a mother who does not work,” “It is more important for a wife to help her husband’s career that to have one herself.” This is saying is these women deserved the right to choose if they wanted to have children or not. These women had to be a stay at home mom to watch their children while their husband’s were at home. Women had found jobs in urban offices and shops. As women kept working and took additional responsibility, they did struggle to balance their careers with their roles as being good wives and mothers. In the American society, women gave rise to a new feminist movement by conflicting over the changing role, which happened in the 1960’s(Study Notes). The produce of the American women over the last two hundred years has two important features. It has declined drastically. After World War II fertility bounced up, as the men returned, the economy went high, and a general feeling of state of having positive beliefs prevailed. Fertility began to rise above-normal levels to make up for the lost fertility during the Great Depression and the war years. This was hard on the women, they were not prepared to quit their jobs(The American Economic Review). The women had more trouble than their parents in buying homes, but they are spending less on the items including furniture and clothing than their parents. They keep their personal consumption up by postponing to have children. Manly their problem as the overall weakness of the United States economy, but the size of the baby boom also has been an impediment to its members. Studies have argued that the baby boom may have created greater problems for government workers than for those in the private sector.
