Baby blues are a term used to describe the mood swings a woman has after she gives birth. Even though most women look forward to being mothers, motherhood can bring challenges that a woman never expected. The hormonal changes that a woman experiences after giving birth can contribute to baby blues. Additionally, exhaustion, which is common among new mothers, can contribute to the baby blues. It is estimated that anywhere from 70 to 80 percent of new mothers experience the baby blues.
