Baby Blue Monologue

Her innocent, baby blue eyes stare up at me as she begs for forgiveness. Tears stream down her face, carving their path and leaving long stains on her cheeks. In her hands, the young girl holds the last piece of the puzzle: a dead rabbit. For the spell to work, the animal has to be alive. All hope is lost, and I know the girl is aware of that, for she weeps as she glances down at the bunny that lays limp in her delicate hands, staining her clothes crimson red.
“What happened?” I ask the girl.
“W-w-well,” the girl begins, trembling either from fear or her hard crying, I do not know, “I-I-I tried to grab the bunny, but it started to-o-o run. I didn’t mean to d-d-d-do anything; I just t-t-tried to stop it. Then, a. . . “ The girl started to cry

He crouches in fear, leaning against his tall, knotted, oak staff. His long, gray beard brushes the stone floor.
“Hello, Father,” I welcome the old man.
“My daughter, I do not know what I did to deserve this, but I am sorry. It will never happen again.”
“I am certain it will never happen again. You have failed to educate the princess, thus proving your incompetence as an instructor. She has killed the rabbit that I have been seeking for the vast majority of my life, and now, due to you, the village will never be free of its curse.”
“The curse that you put on it, my dear, by taking the crown, by force, and ruling over a land that you did not rightfully inherit. When I took you in, I knew that you were trouble, but I hoped that if I raised you right, I could take that demon out of you. Turns out I was wrong.”
