Babe was born on June, 26, 1911, in Port Arthur,Texas. One late night at home, when Babe was three years old, Port Arthur slowly started to flood. This made the Zaharias family move inland to Beaumont,Texas. Life wasn't easy on Babe while growing up. Kids picked on her for her love of boy sports, or not playing with dolls like everyone else. Her mom was very strict.One night Babe stayed out late and her mom spanked her with a broom!

She then became one of the top golfers in the 1930’s. With more practices she made it to the Olympics in 1932 where she played basketball. She also competed in the track and field championships, winning the shot put finals and broad jump. During the year Babe was experiencing minor stomach pains called nerves, but she just put it behind her and did not worry about it. Babe then went to basketball tournaments in 1933 and played a total of 91 games. Later that year, Babe decided to focus on golf as her sport. But coaches spoke otherwise and she started her baseball career in the of 1934. She pitched an inning in a couple of major league baseball games. She was getting paid a total of one thousand dollars a month! All of the baseball and basketball tours ended in the late 1934’s. She then started training for a wrestling match in 1938.
