Body Mass Index is a measuring that index that brings weight and height together to establish a common relationship under a common unit, Kg/m2. It is amazing how age relates to the BMI of an individual, to be more specific, for children and teens. The age difference in children causes a very big difference in the determining whether a child is obese, overweight, healthy weight or underweight.

It is one thing to feel unworthy but people segregating you because of your weight is a whole new level of frustration. It will hit them like a confirmation of their unworthiness.
BMI VERSUS QUALITY OF LIFE
It is important to note that children with healthy body weight tend to have healthier life experiences that build them up to be great people in the society as compared to obese or overweight children and teens. This is because obese children and teens usually spend their time struggling with their bodies instead of focusing on more important aspects of life and therefore may experience a lot of unhealthy moments, therefore, losing the best life has to offer. Having their self-esteem wounded is already bad enough because they will not have the courage to pursue the best in life because they feel undeserving.
Having a child who is obese or overweight is an indicator that their adult life will also be the same. Developing cardiovascular diseases is a threat to the long life that is ahead of them. Battling heart diseases from childhood is tough and the body is more likely to give up at some point.

Below are some of the ways to reduce BMI and maintain it at healthy levels:
Developing healthy eating habits: this generally entails eating healthy foods at all times. Cut down on the foods that add calories in your body. If you need to apply the dieting system, please do so that you can have a healthy body.
Be involved in physical activities: if you are not a person who hits the gym more often, make it a habit of taking long walks or even skip ropes. If you like fun activities, how about a dance routine for workout sessions?
Detoxification: once in a while detoxify your body to get rid of all the accumulated waste in your body.
Drink a lot of water or beverages that do not have a lot of calories: this will help the body stay hydrated and in turn the metabolic processes will be efficient. This will translate to an effective burning of calories in the
