BAS Network Club Case Study

Vision
My goal for the leadership project was to recruit five students to the BAS Network Club before the spring 2018 semester ends. I asked the president of the club, Priscilla “If I were able to get any students, what do you think would be the highest number of students” as I believed she would know a good answer to the question. She said three to five students, so I choose five. The reason why I wanted to recruit students to the club was to fulfill the mission of the club, “to enhance BAS students’ experience at CF by facilitating networking among BAS students, the greater CF student body, staff and faculty group at large as well as networking BAS students with the local area business community” for the students who joined the club because of the project. This club benefits not only business students, but every student as networking can benefit anyone in any field.
Group Goals
1. Go talk to Professor Moody’s 5:30 class to persuade them to join the club
2. Host an informal event
3. Recruit one-on-one in bldg. 40
4. Hold a fundraiser at a flea market
5. Make fliers to hand out to students
6. Hand out flyers to students
7. Post flyers in classrooms in building 40

Thus, I emailed Professor Marino to ask him “may you ask any of them who advise any club at Ocala and Citrus, if I may join their club and as well do one activity for the leadership project.” I assumed he would know people at the Citrus and Ocala campus since he teaches at both campuses. He told me about contacting student life on the Citrus campus since I live there. However, I am on the Ocala campus five days a week, so I told him that and he told me to come to Club Rush at the Ocala campus. He told me he would point out some clubs to me to do the project with

“We’ve never lost an American in space and we’re sure as hell not gonna lose one on my watch! Failure is not an option!” Said by Gene Kranz on the movi Apollo 13, the ‘Failure is not an option’ phrase has been used by various action movies as a cliché which shows authority and badassery. Every character on this kind of movie says that failing on their specific job (or mission, if you really want to be that badass) is not what they are expecting. Fail this mission and you don’t exist on our lives, that’s it.…

CBSA is a professional development organization that is dedicated to the advancement of African American students in Fisher College of Business by putting them in direct contact with business professionals and hosting workshops for different development topics such as resume building and delivering a pitch. I joined the E-Board in spring of 2015 as the Director of Membership. Upon joining, I learned that CBSA was really struggling with membership retention. I took it upon myself to create a membership survey asking current members what they wanted to see from companies, which companies they’d like to be brought in and what industries they were interested in.…

Why are you applying for this position? I think the new member education program is essential for the transitioning new sister in determining if Delta Zeta is the right fit for her. If the process goes the way it is supposed to, it will make the young women excited to wake up and call herself a sister in our chapter. For myself, it’s crucial to be a part of changes that influenced yourself in some way. For just going through the process myself, I think the program was great; however, I want to be a part of the team to make it even better.…

When I started attending Northern Virginia Community College, I joined the Black Student Alliance(BSA). My perception of this club had nothing to do with reality. I thought it was a club made to bring awareness of what is happening in the world in general and in the black community in particular. Unfortunately, it was more about personal issues they were facing and making friends. The semester after, I applied to be a board member.…

But, after my mom talked to the cheerleading coach at the time, I realized that maybe this school is somewhat nice.…
