The concet I attended is called Azesu (Maria Marquez) held in the California Jazz Conservatory. Azesu is comprised by Grammy winners David Pinto on bass, Omar Ledezma on percussion, Sheldon Brown on reeds, Alan Hall on drums and Jonathan Alford on piano. They plays songs from the Latin American Songbook and originals which represent the diverse musical heritage of its members. Featuring the vocals of Maria Marquez and Omar Ledezma, Azesu is a true hybrid group combining the rhythms of the Caribbean and South America with a jazz sensibility.
Most of their songs have strong rthyms and are easy to follow. This concert inlude many songs of their own and some that are related to their own personal stories. They performed songs including El Muñeco, Festejo A La Monk, Payaso, Lorca, The Bell Buckle Shining Dance, Melingi Composition, and Sambamanatos. However, I do not understand Spanish and there is not much information about this song and the lyrics on the internet. This song is originated by Azesu with a combination of Jazz and Latin music. It has a lively rhythm and makes audience want to move along. In this song, they performed with piano, bass, snare drums, conga drums, and soprano saxophone.
They used the four part ensemble of Jazz but also include a percussion player. They have a piano player, a bass player, a drummer, a percussion player, and a horn, which is the generic jazz name for saxophones, trombones, trumpets, or any other wind or brass instrument commonly associated with jazz.
