Ayn Rand's The Diary Of Anne Frank

The Diary of Anne Frank is a nonfiction story almost like an autobiography. In the book Anne faces many hard times because they were in hiding during the holocaust. I think that the theme is that, you should try to be happy even if the situation you are in isn’t the best. Anne tries make the Annex a happy place like when it was Hanukkah and everyone was talking about how they could not get presents that year, and she said “Presents!“. That lifted the spirit of the holiday because everyone was surprised and happy that they got presents. Another time that Anne was trying to think about happy thoughts was when she heard the news about the invasion. After she heard the invasion news, she was thinking about how she would be able to see her friends again and about going back to school. The Holocaust was a difficult time for Jewish people, so most times it was hard to sustain hope. Although it was possible to have that bit of hope, like for Bloeme Evers-Emden, Sal de Liema, Janny Brilleslijper, and Hanneli Goslar, they sustained their hope and were able to get out their concentration camps alive. From the past a lesson that could be learnt is that when a person that does not have good intentions is given a large amount of power, that person is most likely only going to do what they think is supposed to be right and not what the majority of people think is right. We could also learn that there are better ways to solve your problems than trying to kill the people in your country. So, in the end, the lesson is that if you decide to give up hope during a bad situation, it is most likely that your situation will get
