Ayn Rand's Anthem: The Rules Of Equality

Anthem “Anthem” is set in a world where everybody along with everything is forced to be as equal and fair as possible. The settlement where “Anthem” is set and the home of Equality has many rules and controls to keep everything the same. These rules exist to keep everything equal, and with the purpose of not letting anybody be different. The citizens of the municipal are taught that being different is very unacceptable. I presuppose that the society Equality creates will be unquestionably different from the one he formerly lived in. The city where Equality calls home has many rules as well as controls. The city has been run on the idea that there is no individual along with everybody is egalitarian. Many of the rules of Equality’s city are in place because the people that live here are never taught on an individual and the leaders would like to keep it that way. In the book “Anthem” there are no pronouns characterizing oneself until the later chapters in the book. Equality often refers to himself as “we” rather than “I” or “ours” instead of “mine”. There are also many other smaller premeditation of the controls. For example, some of the rules exist to prevent somebody from learning something they are not supposed to know or discovering something they are not supposed to discover. Equality discovered his tunnel and then did not report it like the rules say he must do. He then used the tunnel to discover electricity. Had he ensued every rule like most of the people would have he would have never unearthed the things he did.
