Ayn Rand's Analysis

Ayn Rand lived in a society in where communism was practiced. In this quote of hers, she states inventive and creative people and how society reacts to their “... unborrowed vision...”.
She also talks about the struggles every inventive or creative person faces when making their vision a reality. Rand describes many details about inventive and creative people. Rand said that inventors have their own idea, however, they all have the same experiences when achieving their goals. She states, “... The step was first, the road new, the vision unborrowed, and the response they received - hatred.” Rand says that inventive and creative people have their own vision and then achieve that idea, even if the road is new. However, they are also looked down upon by society. In this quote, Rand is saying that society denies inventive and creative person's ideas. I agree with her statement. For example, Louis Pasteur discovered that diseases were spread by germs. Because of his work today, we try to eliminate the amount of germs to promote a “... Healthy immune function.” However, during his time, his theory was denied by society and even “… met with violent resistance from the medical community.” Another example is the Wright brothers. When they were successful at their Kitty Hawk, their vision of man flying was opposed by American authorities. Many even wrote stories about them and how they were “The Lying Brothers”. After this, they then headed to Europe where they sold aircraft contracts. Both examples show how society looks down upon inventors and their idea. But, they won after suffering from society's
