Ayn Rand wrote this book during the 1960’s during the First world war. She was born in Russia in 1905 just a few years before the war between Russia and the U.S started. During the time that Ayn Rand began to write about the novel, it was during the chaos that Russia was going through. In Russia there was a big problem in the community, something that Ayn Rand wanted to fight for. In 1926, she left Russia to move to the U.S, she left for Russia because they were treated badly and her families’ house was broken down. This problem was the lack of individualism and control over their own life’s. So, why were the people under controlled and stricken ruled?
During this time for Ayn Rand, there was a huge lack of individualism and self-interest. The people were not allowed to have our own opinions, they were not allowed to vote, they were not able to take control over their life’s. Overall, the people were not allowed to display their own opinion. As an example, the lack of individualism during the time was outstanding.
