Ayn Rand Anthem Analysis

Leaders of a society in the book Anthem by Ayn Rand, are unfairly rude, giving Equality a change of mind to think for himself. Leaders are also defined as a council whom are very strict on rules and laws. Consequences end to lashings to the back, to the end of the book Equality is lashed for not telling the council of his where abouts. Anthem is based on the future events which got that society where they are at now. Children grow up without a parent figure, never having a bond with a adult figure or anyone at that matter. Adults and teens have no choice in which work field they go in the for the community. The people can’t even be classified as citizens might as well call them slaves, set on a time schedule by bells. Always using the pronoun “We” when it came to himself. It was a sin of transgression as it said by Rand, Ayn. Anthem, “And we know well that there is no transgression blacker than to do or think alone”. Over the portals of the Palace of the World Council, there are words cut into the marble which the people must repeat every day and it said “We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever”. In the book Anthem by Ayn Rand on page 19 Equality says “We repeat this to ourselves, but it helps us not”. Now the pronoun We in the book means I. From the start of the book even the pledge does not make Equality a robot, as he is already disowning the …show more content…
Equality and Liberty has made a discovery of a glass boxed which produced the secrets of electricity which was once lost. It was a law if something odd or out of place was found to report it to the World Council, Equality was not do to this. Thinking for himself and keeping it a secret down in his tunnel to discover what the glass box was capable of doing. In the book Anthem by Ayn Rand “We must wait. We must guard our tunnel as we never guarded it before. For should any men of the Scholars learn of our secret”. It came time where Equality wanted to be one of the Scholars, and by that he thought he should present the glass box to the World Council of Scholars. When Equality stood before the men he said on pg.70 “We matter not, nor our transgression. It is only our brother men who matter. Give no thought to us, for we are nothing, but listen to our words, for we bring you a gift such as has never been brought to men. Listen to us for we hold the future of mankind in our hands”. When the glass box turned on, it frighten the men to where this could lead to. The council wanted to take it away, but Equality ran out the window into the uncharted
