Awe and kindness are most important to me, because awe is why I live. I feel awe about the vast universe, how Earth’s ecosystems function, and how humans live and survive. That awe is what keeps me going, and drives my fight for the protection of the environment and humans around the world. Having gone through periods of depression, feelings of awe kept me alive. It gave me a purpose to fight for everyday. Kindness is important, because it makes life easier and is the reason why humans as a species are so successful. Our kindness to one another is why we’ve survived until today, it is why we have flourished as we did. People misinterpret the idea ‘survival of the fittest’ to mean that being the healthiest, strongest and smartest is key to survival.
